Beck and Company Real Estate Services, Inc. was established in 1988 as a sole proprietorship and incorporated in 1996.  After over 15 years of experience with other firms, the firm that was started by Carl Beck as a one man office and now has over 30 employees and serves clients throughout Austin and outlying areas.  Beck and Company’s success is based totally on the service orientation and experience of the entire staff.  This experience and attitude allow us to accommodate the diverse needs of our many clients in the management specialties of property owner associations and investment properties.

Leading the firm is Carl Beck who has held the position of President of both the Austin Apartment Association and the Austin Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management.  Leading the Association Services Division is Stan Scheiber, co-owner of this division.  Stan holds the designation of Certified Manager of Community Associations (through the Community Associations Institute).  Stan’s background includes a broad range of real estate practice, including previous ownership of a successful management firm.

Properties in our portfolio are managed by an excellent group of six property managers with many years of experience in their areas of specialty.  Administrative and bookkeeping services are provided by six dedicated and knowledgeable individuals led by Crystal Thompson who has been with Beck and Company since 1996.  The maintenance division was formed to provide a resource for the multitude of services not readily available from outside sources and is supervised by Carl Beck and provides timely, quality maintenance and repairs to further complement the full service goal of the company.

The current management portfolio includes over 55 property owner associations comprised of over 3400 units, multiple small apartment communities and a solid grouping of single and small multi-family rental units.  Our services include a hands-on approach to HOA management; on-site management, leasing and marketing for rental properties; maintenance capabilities and a detailed financial and reporting structure.

After working through college in the retail industry, an opportunity to enter the field of property management began a real estate career in 1971 and obtained his real estate broker’s license in 1974.  Established Beck and Company Real Estate Services in 1988 after seventeen years of experience gained with three prominent Austin real estate companies. Proven as a recognized presence in the Austin real estate market, Beck and Company gradually added more talent from the industry. This has resulted in a total staff of over thirty people and the daily oversight of approximately 55 Homeowner Associations, and 400 multi and single family rental units.

Entrance to the market of property management began in 1975 as manager of a new construction start–up apartment community. Expertise was quickly honed and implemented in positions as general manager and vice president responsible for development of new management programs and marketing; acquisition financing for condo conversions; acquisition management; and eventually ownership of a management company. Management ranged from commercial and residential, to luxury condominiums, apartments, and private tennis club. After 34 years of property management experience across the Southwest region states, a reputation for excellence culminated in a joint venture with Beck and Company. This partnership has resulted in tripled growth of the HOA management division.

Began a career in property management in 1975 cleaning apartments. Over the next several years worked on large multi-family and commercial properties in every position, in strong and distressed markets across the nation, including Denver, St. Louis, Chicago, Stamford, and Austin. In 1992, joined Beck and Company as a manager of single and small multi-family units through the purchase of a property management profile. Rejoined Beck and Company in 2002 as manager of the multi-family portfolio, also adding management of Associations.

Initially worked with BAC Maintenance building fences doing other construction related projects through college. Also interned with and was then employed by a marketing and design firm until graduation from UT with a BFA in Studio Art. After graduation, joined Beck and Company, working from administration to assistant manager, to current position of property manager. Portfolio includes several Homeowner Associations, but is primarily focused on the management of single family and duplex rental units. As of 2006, began assisting buyers and sellers in the purchase and sale of real estate as a licensed real estate salesman and Realtor Associate.

Began property management career in 1987 as a receptionist for an executive suite in a class A building, moved to building manager and bought the executive suite in June of 1988, ran this business for nine years and sold it.  Began HOA management with a developer doing HOA startups.  Also managed commercial properties and simple land leases during this time.  In 1999 she took a position with a major  Houston community management firm where she managed a portfolio of 12 properties ranging from multi-million dollar homes to subdivisions with over 1500 units.  Moved to Austin in 2001 and took a position as an subdivision onsite manager Austin, responsible for budgets, meetings and property oversight.  Her next position was property manager for an Austin broker with a specialty campus properties and  provided full management and support services for twenty five home owners associations.  Joined the Beck Team in February 2007 and currently manages 13 Associations, many in the University of Texas campus area which is her preferred specialty.  She holds herself to excellent customer service and high standards for work ethics.

Accumulated tremendous experience through working at one of the largest advertising firms in the nation, a 16-year operation and ownership of a studio, and teaching at college level. Technical advances in the graphics field made a career change desirable. Practical application of professional experience blended well with the field of Property Management, and now professionally manages a substantial portfolio of Associations.

Bringing 9 years of customer service and corporate accounting to Beck and Company, covered positions from receptionist to admin assistant and property manager, evolving into current position of Association Accounting and Transition Manager. Supervise and provide monthly financial reports, consistently evaluate internal operating procedures, and balance accounting functions with customer service. Also provides transitional management of newly acquired properties to ensure a smooth transition.
